You need to enable 'Load Station Environment' from EVE client ESC menu under 'Display & Graphics' to be be able to spin the ship. The Load Station Environment functionality was changed in the patch.

No the server is not closing sockets. The socket closed error is usually given when the client has lost 5 packets (due to packetloss) in a row.

Try and remove EVE.EXE and/or EXEFILE.EXE from the Windows Firewall exception list (or any other firewall software you might have installed) and then try again. Windows Firewall should prompt again that EXEFILE.EXE is trying to access the internet...

You have to redo the window positions again, if you click on the 'Reset to default window positions'. By default for me the 'Watch List' was positioned below the 'Overview' while in space, and under the Station window if you're docked.

If you're running Windows XP 64bit, there's a known issue with the client updates refusing to install and the client update has to be installed manually. Instructions on how to do this can be found here .
